Welcome Note
Our School is one of the largest Schools in Tanzania that offers innovative and most programmatically market oriented courses in nursing and public health in Tanzania and the East African region.
Our faculty, staff and students are committed to improving the well-being of individuals, families, communities and populations through diverse health programs, collaborative research, and strong community partnerships. We do this through the (University of Dodoma) UDOM’s comprehensive, innovative and collaborative strategic plan.
The School has three departments namely, the Department of Public Health and Community Nursing, the Department of Clinical Nursing and the Department of Nursing Management and Education. Through its departments, the School offers one diploma programme in Nursing, three bachelors programmes; 1. BSc Nursing, 2. BSc. Health Information Science and 3. BSc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics. The School offers five postgraduate masters programmes; 1. MSc Midwifery and Women’s Health programme, 2. MSc. Pediatric Nursing programme, 3. MSc. Pschiatry and Mental Health Nursing programme, 4. MSc. Nursing Education programme and 5. MSc. Public Health programme. The School also offers doctoral level programmes in Public Health and in Nursing.
Since its establishment in 2008 to date the School has admitted over 4000 students into its various programmes, with the admission rate per year growing from only 56 students admitted in 2009 to over 800 students admitted in 2022/2023. This growth has gone hand in hand with expanding and diverse number of programmes, academic stuff, outputs in terms of research and innovations, local and international collaborations and community and consultancy services.
In-line with the vision of UDOM, the School strives to become a centre of excellence that offers value added training, research and public services in nursing and public health sciences.
