The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is among the founding Colleges of the University of Dodoma (UDOM). Due to its relatively large size the College was split into two Colleges; leading to the establishment of the new College of Business Studies and Law (2016/2017); Currently College of Business and Economics and School of Law. Recently (2019) a former Department of Development studies has been elevated to an Institute of Development Studies. The College is currently hosting students from other Colleges of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS) and College of Earth Sciences and Engineering (COES) and Graduate Students, in term of hostels and Lecturer Rooms. It offers University wide course of Communication Skills.
The core functions of the college; teaching research and consultancy are aligned with the vision and mission of the University (UDOM) which seek to be a “ Centre of excellence in education, training, research, innovation, and public services for sustainable and inclusive global development” with a mission “To contribute to national, regional and global development through the provision of high-quality education, training and cutting –edge research, innovation and public services”
