Current Academic position: Professor of Anatomy at the Department of Anatomy and Histology, School of Medicine and Dentistry, at the University of Dodoma (UDOM)

Current administrative position: Director of Research and Publications, Consultancy and Institutional collaboration (DRP, CIC)

Research areas and interest: More than thirty-two publications from local and international indexed journals; in cell biology, morphology, public health and clinical dentistry/medicine.

Supervision and mentorship: Supervised up to twenty PG students in Masters, MMED and PhD and guided several UG projects in health sciences, palliative care and education; provided mentorship to several junior academic staff both at UDOM and in other institutions in Tanzania in research and publications.

Grants: Awarded funding for research, publications and gender mainstreaming from local and international organizations including: PI for a project titled “Getting out of the box” A gender sensitization program 2015 – Funded by INASP; “Support for indigenous rare professions exemplary works (2010)” – funded by Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH); Sida/SAREC research grant for local projects (2006) on a project on “Pattern and Time of permanent and deciduous tooth eruption in Tanzanian populations; local and systemic factors”; The Ministry of Health (National AIDS Control Program) grant (2004) on the “First Signs of HIV (Oral manifestations) and awareness in people living with HIV/AIDS in Dar es Salaam Tanzania”; Sida/SAREC research grant for local projects (2002) – a project on “Temporomandibular disorders, signs and symptoms in adults living in rural setting, Tanzania”; and The Japanese Ministry of Education Scholarship (PhD).

On-going Consultancy services/Research projects/Publications: Team lead – Consultancy on Design and Supervision of Action and Academic Researches Focusing on Improving Basic Literacy and Numeracy Skills in Tanzania October 2015 – September 2018 (Funded by Global Partnership) Client: Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MOEST); Project coordination lead - Transforming Employability for Social Change in East Africa (TESCEA) – partnership with other Universities (Mzumbe – Tanzania, Uganda Martys – Uganda and GULU- Uganda) and Organizations in Kenya (AFELT, Ashoka and LIWA) and INASP- lead partner from UK (funded by DFID August 2017 – 2021); Baseline data on Gender issues at UDOM leading to policy development – Funded by INASP (Completed data collection, policy development in process); mentoring two junior researchers who have been funded by UDOM internal source (2017 – 2018).
