About Victor
Victor Abel Massawe has a strong interest in Rock Mechanics in Mining, with a particular focus on assessing the long-term stability of excavations both during and after mineral extraction. His latest research highlights an understanding of pit slope stability challenges espessially in mines that have transitioned to underground operations and emphasizes the increasing importance of long-term environmental concerns and social acceptance. Victor is passionate about sharing knowledge and holds both a PhD and a master's degree from Hacettepe and Dokuz Eylul Universities in Turkey, earned between 2016 and 2024. His work primarily revolves around optimizing open-pit operations and ensuring rock mass stability in both open-pit and underground excavations.
