Dr. Kalista Higini Peter is a senior lecturer who holds a PhD in climate change from Kiel University in Germany and MSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She also holds a BSc in Agronomy from the Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. Her scientific fields of expertise include natural resource assessment, climate change adaptation with an emphasis on smallholder farming, climate change and vulnerability assessment, the blue economy, innovation in small and medium enterprises, resource use, poverty analysis and natural resources governance. She has extensive experience of more than 14 years with high interaction with a wide range of local communities, NGOs, and officials from Government ministries and Departments. She has published several scientific papers, reports and conference proceedings and is conversant in research design, methodologies and data analysis for both qualitative and quantitative research. She has conducted various research in collaboration with local and international organizations such as the African Peace Network (APN), the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship program, the British Academy, Research and Poverty Alleviation (REPOA), and the World-Wide Fund (WWF) for nature.
