Quality Assurance Unit (DQA)

What We Do

At The University of Dodoma (UDOM), everyone (staff and students) is responsible for quality enhancement and implementation. UDOM contemplates quality in all activities in the areas of teaching, learning, research, community services and support services. Concerning the University’s vision “to become a centre of excellence that offers value-added training, research and public services’’, QAU is responsible for ensuring that the products of the University meet the quality and standards commensurate with the national and international academic norms.

The following are some of the core functions of QAU:

1. Inculcating and promoting institutional quality culture

2. Reviewing and recommending updates on University policies and procedures related to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and the enhancement of academic standards

3. Overseeing the ongoing review of the quality and effectiveness of the University’s degree programmes and ensuring an effective process of assessment of learning outcomes in the University

4. Overseeing the Academic Quality Assurance processes including periodic programme review and learning outcomes assessment, and  ensuring that new and current programmes align with the TCU standards

5. Coordinating accreditation activities

6. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory bodies' requirements and accreditation standards

7. Overseeing the provision of professional development programmes in teaching and learning, including conducting periodical workshops/seminars for staff and students to facilitate quality practices

8. Conducting employer and alumni satisfaction surveys: QAU conducts alumni and employer satisfaction surveys once every five years

9. Supervising student course evaluation as well as other students satisfaction surveys such as Graduating Students' Exit Surveys

10. Overseeing the response of the Academic Units to the External Examiners’ reports for improvement of practices

11. Ensuring the overall quality assurance activities at the University
