He has over 10 years of experience in research and consultancy and has carried out different consultancies with several institutions.

CPA Mwakapala is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-T) and a Certified Tax Consultant. He has a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy and Finance—public Sector Accounting and Investigation (Mzumbe University), a Master of Business Administration—finance (University of Dodoma), and is a Certified Public Accountant (NBAA). He has completed a PhD in Accounting and Finance at the Univerisity of Dodoma.

Currently, CPA David Mwakapala is the Chief Internal Auditor at the University of Dodoma.
